Scouting AMerica
One of our very first outreach events was to help a local Cub Scout Pack work to better automate their Pinewood Derby Track.
Many of our team members had previously been a part of Pack 4173 out of Bellevue, WI. This was a great way to use some of our tech skills and give back to a wonderful Pack who helps kids grow into leaders in their community.
We hosted a Pinewood Derby Build Day where we helped kids design, cut and paint their derby cars. When we got to race day, we helped the Pack Leaders by registering the cars and racers and running the races for them. The scouts loved the track when it was all lit up, and of course the slo-mo replay of their cars crossing the finish line.

The Bay lakes Council of Scouting America hosts an annual Pi Day Event. Player One has been able to host workshops at this event to engage kids in the area in STEM and showcase the creativity that FIRST inspires.
We have helped the younger Cub Scouts build brushy bots and 3D printed card kits and we've had the older Scouts BSA Scouts give our FTC and FRC Robots a test drive. It's always a lot of fun talking with the scouts and sharing what FIRST has to offer.

We have also had the opportunity to lead the Robotics Merit Badge for the BayLakes Council of Scouting America. Coach Erik is a certified Merit Badge counselor for this merit badge and quite a few other STEM related badges. In this workshop students had to learn about various robotics organizations, programming, building and design. It was a lot of fun and we look forward to continuing on this tradition. We had 14 scouts extend their excitement for STEM and robotics after this program and even gained a few members for our team!
